1) Henrik Larsson

Date of Birth: 20 September, 1971

Club: Celtic

Nationality: Sweden

Notes: Moved to Feyenoord from Sweden in 1993. In his second season he scored 11 goals to win himself a place in the Swedish squad at the World Cup in 1994. He scored in the third/fourth place play-off with Bulgaria to help Sweden finish third. As there was a clause in his contract he was able to complete a move to Celtic for just £600,000 in the middle of 1997. He helped Celtic to the league title in 1997/98. He has also collected player of the year and for the Scottish Premier League and Sweden during his time at Celtic. He broke his leg in a horrible accident late in 1999 but miraculously recovered for Euro 2000 and is again playing well this season.

 

2) Chris Sutton

Date of Birth: 10 March, 1973

Club: Celtic

Nationality: England

Notes: Moved to Blackburn Rovers from Norwich and formed a good partnership with Alan Shearer. This led to Blackburn winning the league title in 1994/95. He was also joint top scorer in the Premiership with Dion Dublin and Michael Owen in 1997/98. The English international then moved to Chelsea in the middle of 1999 for £10m but did not play well during his first season at the club. He was then sold to Celtic for £6m, becoming Martin O'Neill's first signing as a replacement for the sold Mark Viduka. He has performed better in Scotland than in his previous year.

 

3) Billy Dodds

Date of Birth: 5 February, 1969

Club: Rangers

Nationality: Scotland

Notes: Moved to Dundee United from Aberdeen in September 1998 as part of the deal which took Robbie Winters in the opposite direction. After 27 goals in 54 matches for Dundee United he moved to Rangers for £1.3m. After long term injuries happened to Mols, Johansson and Amato, Dodds proved an excellent replacement scoring 15 goals in 17 games for the remainder of the 1999/00 season. This also led to a call-up to the full Scottish international team at the age of 29 where he continued to star for the Euro 2000 qualifying campaign as Scotland's leading forward.

 

4) Kenny Miller

Date of Birth: 23 December, 1979

Club: Rangers

Nationality: Scotland

Notes: After playing well in a loan spell with Stenhousemuir he returned to Hibernian and broke into the first team for the 1999/00 season. During this season he scored thirteen goals as Hibs finished mid-table and was awarded the Young Player of the Year award. He moved to Rangers for £2m at the end of this season. He was not very involved at the start of 2000/01 but when given a chance scored five goals in the one match against St Mirren.

 

5) Michael Mols

Date of Birth: 17 December, 1970

Club: Rangers

Nationality: Holland

Notes: Made the move from Utrecht to Rangers for £4m in the middle of 1999 rejecting offers from other clubs such as Sheffield Wednesday. Dutch international who was hugely impressive in the Scottish Premier League scoring nine goals in nine starts before being struck down with a knee ligament injury. He has returned and is still as very skillful dangerous striker.

 

6) Tore Andre Flo

Date of Birth: 15 June, 1973

Club: Rangers

Nationality: Norway

Notes: In Norway played for Sogndal, Tromso and Brann Bergen, scoring 28 league goals in 40 matches for Brann. He joined Chelsea in the middle of 1997 for £300,000. A tall striker who scored 11 league goals in his first season for Chelsea. He had a successful France 98 with the Norwegian national team, scoring a goal and winning a penalty to help Norway beat Brazil and reach the second round. He was mainly employed as a supersub at Chelsea an wishing for more first team football he recently joined Chelsea for £12m.

 

7) Claudio Caniggia

Date of Birth: 9 January, 1967

Club: Dundee

Nationality: Argentina

Notes: Has starred around the world for clubs such as River Plate, Verona, Roma, Benfica and Boca Juniors. He has performed well at the 1990 and 1994 World Cup, scoring at each. New player-manager for Dundee Ivano Bonetti secured his signature and is starring for Dundee with his talent and vision.

 

8) Kiegan Parker

Date of Birth : 8 June, 1982

Club : St Johnstone 

Nationality : Scotland

Notes  : Scotland U/18 regular who has starred during the 2000/01 season and even scored in a 2-1 win over Rangers. His enthusiasm and skilled play has attracted attention and his talent ensures it is unlikely St Johnstone will be able to hold onto him for long.

 

9) Mixu Paatelainen

Date of Birth: 3 February, 1967

Club: Hibernian

Nationality: Finland

Notes: Moved to Scotland and Dundee United from Finland in 1987. He played for Aberdeen before moving to Bolton who he helped to two promotions in three years. He then moved to Wolves before joining his current club Hibernian. He has helped Hibs become one of the top teams in the league for 2000/01. He has recently retired from international football finishing with 18 goals and 70 caps, the second top goalscorer in internationals for Finland.

 

10) Juan Sara

Date of Birth: ???

Club: Dundee

Nationality: Argentina

Notes: Signed for Dundee from Cerro Porteno in Paraguay in July 2000. He was the third top scorer in Paraguay and played in the Copa Libertadores in the previous season. He has scored a large number of goals in the 2000/01 season having already reached double figures.
