Notes              : Matar was awarded the Golden Ball for player of the tournament at the 2003 World Youth Cup. Matar was the hometown hero for UAE and helped them reach their best ever performance in the tournament. Matar's best match in the tournament was in the second round against Australia. Matar was brilliant throughout the game and scored with a minute left to give UAE a 1-0 upset victory. UAE had never progressed to the quarter-finals before and were knocked out by Colombia.
