COLLEGE (NCAA) SOCCER

There is a wide variety of sports organised by the NCAA for the colleges of USA. Soccer is one of these sports, but has been criticised at college level as having too short seasons and holding back players. The MLS have been trying to entice youngsters to skip college soccer altogether with schemes such as Project-40. This part of the site will profile the history and 2000 season for college soccer.

The MAC Hermann Trophy was the combined Hermann and MAC Awards and was created in 2002. Past winner of the separated awards before this are listed below.

Regular Season

The top 32 teams from the regular season qualify for the NCAA Tournament. All the colleges are split into conferences.

NCAA Tournament

The NCAA tournament decides who will become the champion college of the season. The semi-final and final named the  Final Four are played at a neutral venue.

The Best Players in 2000

The best players included Chris Gbandi of UConn and Ali Curtis of Duke. The two main awards were split between these two stars
