Czech Republic finished second in their qualifying group to Belgium but beat Greece in the play-offs. They ended the European U/21 Championships as runner-up losing to Italy in the final. Here is some information about their better players.:

Position : Midfielder

Team : Banik Ostrava (Czech Republic)

Notes : Has been with Banik Ostrava since age 10 and has been a regular since the 1996/97 season. Made his international debut in 2-1 win over Mexico in the Carlsberg Cup on 8/2/00 and even though this was his only previous international appearance he was chosen to be in the Czech Republic's Euro 2000 squad after an impressive U/21 campaign.


Name : David Jarolim

Position : Midfielder

Date of birth : 17/5/79

Team : Bayern Munich (Germany)

Notes : Moved from Slavia Prague to Bayern Munich in 1995 and has featured in minimal amounts since then. Has represented Czech Republic at U/15, U/16, U/18, U/20 and U/21 levels.


Name : Tomas Rosicky

Position : Midfielder

Date of birth : 4/10/80

Team : Sparta Prague (Czech Republic)

Notes : Czech Republic full international who made his debut on 13/2/00 against the Republic of Ireland. Helped Sparta Prague progress through the first group stage in the 1999/00 European Champion's League. Sparta Prague were knocked out in the second group stage. Was at Euro 2000.


Name : Libor Sionko

Position : Forward

Date of birth : 1/2/77

Team : Sparta Prague (Czech Republic)

Notes : Moved to Sparta Prague from FC Banik Ostrava. Made his international debut in a 2-1 loss to Poland on 28/4/99. Was part of Sparta Prague's Champion's League squad that made it to the second group stage of the tournament. 


Name : Roman Tyce

Position : Defender

Date of birth : 7/5/77

Team : 1860 Munich (Germany)

Notes : Moved to 1860 Munich from Slovan Liberec. U/21 international since 1996. Made international debut as a substitute in a 3-0 win over Switzerland on 18/8/99
