Notes              : Helped Uruguay to the quarter-finals of the World U/17 Championships in 1999. Played in the South American U/20 Championship in 2001 but could not inspire his team through to the World Youth Cup. Made his debut for Danubio in 2000 and has become an important player in the side since. Was involved in the Uruguay side at the Copa America in 2001 that finished fourth. Moved to Juventus from Danubio in mid-2002 to join fellow Uruguayan star Marcelo Zalayeta.
