Freddy Adu

Position         : Forward

Date of birth : 2 June, 1989

Team              : Potomac (USA)

Nationality     : USA

Notes              : At only twelve he has attracted an overseas bid from Inter in Italy in 2001. He shows immense talent and came to Inter's attention as he starred in several youth tournaments in Italy. In club soccer he almost single-handedly won his team, the Potomac Cougars, the 2001 Snickers US Youth Soccer National Championships for U/14 boys. He was the top scorer with four goals, dribbled past players with ease and was unstoppable. Big things are expected from Adu and he has already been invited to the US U/17 residency program in 2002. Adu was two years younger than any of the other players invited. He was born in Ghana but arrived in the US in 1998. He scored four goals in the World U/17 Championships in 2003 at the age of fourteen, helping USA reach the quarter-finals where they were defeated by eventual winners Brazil.
