Notes              : Quaresma was involved in Portugal's European U/16 Championship triumph in 2000 where his two goals in the final gave them a 2-1 victory over Czech Republic. He began to come to notice when he outshone the first team players in pre-season training for 2001/02 for Sporting Lisbon. This led to two good seasons in the first team at Sporting. He made his international debut against Bolivia in June 2003. In the middle of 2003 at the age of nineteen Quaresma moved to Barcelona, the old club of Portuguese star Luis Figo, a player who Quaresma had been compared to.
