EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS CUP FINALS

This tournament was organised as a knock-out cup for the champions of each league until the 1991/92 season. A group stage was added to create the European Champions League. In 1997/98 runner-ups in the top eight leagues were invited and since then even third and fourth placed teams in some leagues have been able to enter.
